Entertainment & Leisure

Acoustic design plays a crucial role in the successful operation of entertainment and leisure facilities, particularly when they are in close proximity to residents.

We have extensive experience in both assessing the likely noise impact of proposed entertainment and leisure uses and also helping venues address noise complaints from residents and possible legal action taken by Local Authorities.

In complex mixed use developments the nearest sensitive receptor will often be within the building itself. This requires careful consideration of the acoustic design of not only the building envelope but also the design of internal walls and floors to minimise transmission throughout the building. Every site presents unique challenges and so we use our experience to provide the most efficient and cost effective solutions.

Success Stories

New Leisure Centre – Nottingham

Client: Carillion
Architects: Levitate
Mechanical & Electrical Consultants: BSP

To advise on achieving good acoustic quality inside this new leisure centre comprising of two swimming pools, fitness suite, dance studio, relaxation rooms, cafe and changing facilities. Of particular interest to the end user was to control excessive reverberation inside the pools. Cass Allen carried out detailed computer modelling, which showed that relatively minor and inexpensive modifications to the building design could achieve significant improvements in the final acoustic quality of the project. We then advised on constructional details and compliance with project noise limits throughout the build.
