Acoustic insulation design advice for St Barnabas Church conversion
Cass Allen have been appointed by Cullen & Davis 1 Ltd to provide acoustic insulation design advice for the conversion of St Barnabas Church in Barnet, North Finchley. It has most recently been used as a community church, with the current planning proposals comprising approx. 21 residential apartments.
The main aims of the detailed sound and vibration assessment are to:
- Establish the existing noise & vibration levels at the site; and
- where required, develop a scheme of noise and vibration insulation measures in order to achieve the requirements of the planning requirements.
Contributing factors are construction activity, road traffic and train movements from the nearby Northern line London Underground service.
Our involvement will also be to ensure that high quality acoustic environments are provided for future occupants including high levels of sound insulation between apartments. This project has some acoustically challenging details where the new structure interfaces with the existing building, including rooms within the existing roof and windows that span separating floors.
